The regulations apply to price monopolies inside and outside China, when monopoly prices outside the country impact the domestic market.
Violations of regulations would attract punishment according to the country’s anti-monopoly law, the commission said.
This could involve confiscation of illegal earnings and a fine of up to 10 percent of the previous year’s sales.
Industry associations would be subject to a maximum fine of 500,000 yuan (US$75,500) or dismissal as an association.
Many of China’s State-owned firms — such as oil giants PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC — and telecom companies — China Mobile and China Unicom — are frequently criticized for their dominant market positions.
